GAWOONI relies on digital currency

Recently, much has been said about the subject of “digital currencies” or “cryptocurrencies”, e.g. Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, etc. As a developer of digital games we have of course to deal with this topic.

Digital currencies are on the rise. 179 officially recognized paper currencies are facing already over 800 virtual currencies. Why are there already so many virtual currencies. The answer is simple: People have lost trust in the value of money in many places. They are looking for alternatives, the exodus goes into gold, silver, diamonds, real estate – and in cryptocurrencies.

Why are cryptos more secure than cash?
Unlike paper money, cryptic payments are not based on government debts. The growing confidence in these new currencies is based on the technology behind it, the so-called blockchain. This is a decentralized system to which no company and no bank has any influence. It regulates itself through the respective transactions of supply and demand in this block chain, which is completely transparent and can be seen. This technology will revolutionize our lives in many areas – not just our money system.

The world’s largest mail-order retailer “amazon” has recently announced that it will also enable to pay with digital currency payments on its platform. This decision has signaling effect and will move many internet platforms to the same step.

Replace virtual currencies such as the Bitcoin classic currencies?

The Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Christine Lagarde, considers this to be possible. At a conference of the Bank of England in London, Lagarde said that virtual currencies could replace national currencies over the next 20 years. The IMF CEO believes in the future of virtual currencies. Easier, safer, more stable: Currencies like Bitcoin are future-proof according to Lagarde. The financial markets should take technological developments like this seriously.

There are many well-known advocates for “digital currencies”, e.g. Bill Gates and Elon Musk. As a company of the “Digital Economy”, we must therefore address this issue. GAWOONI will follow the example of amazon and support digital currencies on its upcoming gaming platform. GAWOONI therefore sets a clear signal and gives its gaming platform a further special feature.

Of course, the topic “digital currencies” is also interesting for our investors. With this step, GAWOONI will become interesting to a new investor audience, which mainly invests in the digital sector.

gamescom 2017: A successful show for GAWOONI
3 days and more than 50 meetings, this was the schedule for the team of GAWOONI in the past days at Europe’s most important games fair: the gamescom in Cologne (Germany). A show of superlatives:
– Over 350,000 visitors
– Over 30,000 trade visitors from more than 100 countries
– Over 900 exhibitors
– 150 politicians on the spot
– Chancellor Angela Merkel opened the show
GAWOONI has signed major contracts with publishing partners at the show. Conclusion: a successful games show with signed contracts – we are happy :-)

GAWOONI goes China
China is the largest and most powerful games market in the world. A great but also difficult market as it is characterized by very specific cultural peculiarities. It is therefore very important to be personally present in this market as a company. We are therefore very pleased to announce today that Marco Mingxun Jin is now representing the interests of GAWOONI in China. Marco has been working in the gaming industry for more than 10 years and is an internationally highly experienced games specialist. Marco will do business development for GAWOONI with a focus on China, Japan and South Korea. With Marco Mingxun Jin, GAWOONI has made another strategically important step in Asia.
Taipei Game Show 2017

 

There is good news from Asia again. Last week, the GAWOONI team attended the Taipei Game Show 2017. This is the most important game fair in Taiwan and at the same time a good opportunity to get in touch with game developers from Hong Kong, China, Taiwan and Malaysia. GAWOONI was able to organize more than 30 meetings with developers and look at their games. Now the follow up and detailed evaluation of interesting game projects starts.

GAWOONI will participate in two major trade shows in Thailand

GAWOONI will be present at two important trade fairs in Thailand with its own booth:

Thailand Digital Game Arena 2016 (12 to 14 August 2016, Bangkok)

Thailand Game Show 2016 (28 to 30 October 2016, Bangkok)

For GAWOONI it is a big thing as  the company show up for the first time in Southeast Asia with direct public presence. At the show we will also introduce our game TUK TUK Rush to a wide audience.

The release of our game TUK TUK Rush in Thailand is scheduled for the end of October, in line with the Thailand Game Show 2016.

Marketing-Team Thailand expands

SASIWIMON JUIKRAYANGGreat news coming from our team in Bangkok. The GAWOONI Marketing-Team could be extended by an experienced local marketing manager.

Sasiwimon Juikrayang is now responsible for the marketing of our games in Thailand. According to her position as Marketing Manger Southeast Asia she will coordinate all marketing activities of GAWOONI in this area.

Sasiwimon Juikrayang has studied international media and communications. She lives in Bangkok and has worked in the marketing of well known international companies. She is specialized in new media in Asia which is of most importance for the marketing of games.
